Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) is a strength-based approach to psychotherapy that focuses on solution-building in the present and exploring hope for the future in order to find a quick and pragmatic resolution to problems. This method takes the approach that you know what you need to do to improve your own life and, with the appropriate coaching and questioning, are capable of finding the best solutions.

Unlike other forms of psychotherapy that analyse present problems and past causes, SFT concentrates on current circumstances and goal-setting for the future, which opens the mind to creating a plan to achieve those goals.

Solution-Focused Therapy focuses heavily on change, particularly on how change is inevitable and how creating an expectation of change in therapy can be beneficial. Together with your therapist, you will begin to identify small, pragmatic ways to make changes in your life to achieve your goals.
